THE COLLEGE OF MOUNT ST. VINCENT

Master of Science in Education

The UFT Teacher Center offers these courses from CMSV individually for professional growth on a course-by-course basis, and as part of a degree/certification program.

The program leads to a master of science degree in education and permanent state certification for teachers already provisionally certified (CPTs) only. The 30-credit master's program is designed to help educators develop the skills they need to teach effectively in today's culturally diverse classrooms.

NOTE: For teachers with provisional certification, all content areas may use this master's program to complete their certification. For those with initial certification, only teachers with elementary or middle level extension certification may use this program to fulfill their certification requirements.

Participants must be accepted by CMSV and meet all of CMSV's requirements, including taking 9 credits at CMSV's campus. Students may register for a maximum of 6 credits each semester. You can take a maximum of 12 credits as a non-matriculated student. It is advisable that students obtain a copy of the college bulletin for full information on college policy and regulations.

Students may take courses as non-matriculants, but if they are seeking a degree or certification, all admission materials must be in before the first 9 credits are completed.

It is highly recommended that students seek advisement from the faculty advisor, Dr. Ron Scapp, at 1-718-405-3492 of the master's program prior to beginning their course of study. All other inquireis are to be directed to Ellen Swihart at 1-718-4056-3209.
