The MSIT program offers dual certification:

  • upon completion of this program (and also the completion of all NYS requirements for certification), teachers will receive permanent/professional certification in their area of provisional/initial certification; and also
  • candidates successfully completing this program will receive initial certification as educational technologist specialists after passing the NYS content specialty test in educational technology.

NOTE: This technology certification alone will not enable one to get a job in the NYC school system. To be eligible for the Educational Technology Certificate, you must already hold a standard NYS elementary, academic or all-grade certificate (i.e. ESL).
