Important note to all prospective NYIT students:
Students must have computer background knowledge in order to enroll in these programs.
All students are required to have computers and access to the Internet.

Potential graduates should be aware that since most off-campus courses end later than those on campus, a diploma might not be awarded until the semester following the completion of coursework.

Required courses

* These courses may also satisfy the requirements for a Master of Science in Childhood Education, Grades 1-6 (MSED).

*NOTE: An additional RESEARCH AND FIELD PROJECT (6 credits) must be taken on campus at either NYIT's Manhattan campus or at the Old Westbury, L.I., campus at full tuition.

Highlights of the MSIT Educational Technologist Specialist

The MSIT program offers dual certification:

NOTE: This technology certification alone will not enable one to get a job in the NYC school system. To be eligible for the Educational Technology Certificate, you must already hold a standard NYS elementary, academic or all-grade certificate (i.e. ESL).

Master of science in Childhood Education, Grades 1-6 (MSED)
(Emphasis On Instructional Technology)

45 Credits

The graduate program in Childhood Education leads to a master’s degree and New York State initial certification in Childhood Education for grades 1-6. The program builds on the general education and liberal arts majors or concentrations that candidates acquired in their undergraduate educations and develops their understanding of child development, curriculum design, instructional practices and the integration of technology in teaching and learning.

All applicants to the program must:

* Students with a GPA of less than 3.0 require special advisement.
