Schools around the country are planning a return to widespread in-person instruction for the 2021-22 school year, with some districts completely eliminating remote learning.

The UFT recently has been facilitating the delivery of paper paychecks to members who have had trouble receiving them from the city since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andy Pallotta, the president of New York State United Teachers, praised members of the union for their perseverance and commitment to their students, patients and jobs during the pandemic as he opened the 2021 Representative Assembly via Zoom on April 30.

Despite all the UFT’s efforts, City Hall refused to offer an early retirement incentive for any DOE employees this year. 

The Delegate Assembly passed a total of six resolutions during April and May at two regularly scheduled meeting and one special DA.

New UFT-Department of Education program offers one hour of free college and career counseling to high school juniors and seniors after school and on weekends.
