Why are kids bringing guns to school? According to Schools Chancellor David C. Banks, kids are bringing guns to school because they are afraid and want to protect themselves. This is total insanity! Schools are supposed to be safe havens of learning, respect and discipline, not battlegrounds with guns. If there are so many kids who are afraid in school, there is something radically wrong with our school system here in New York City. Something needs to be done immediately to halt the mounting violence in our schools, which is causing fear among students. If this mayhem keeps up, many parents may decide to pull their kids out of school and either home-school them or pack their bags and move to safer locales where gun violence is not running amok!
