Hundreds of NYC teachers hold citywide "Grade-In" protest to demand a Fair Contract
TEACHERS CONDUCT CITYWIDE "GRADE-INS"
DEMAND AN END TO TIME-WASTING ADMINISTRATIVE CHORES THAT TAKE UP THEIR DAY
Hundreds of UFT educators across the city took part in "Grade-Ins" on Thursday, March 30, to fight for more autonomy over their time during the workday and to call out the ever-growing amounts of irrelevant busywork and administrative tasks they are forced to do that don’t serve their students.

As part of its push for a Fair Contract, the UFT is surveying its members about working conditions. UFT members responding to date have said that more than 35% of their day, or 12 hours a week on average, is spent doing "irrelevant admin-ordered work."
Educators brought their work into public spaces for the "Grade-Ins". They wanted to show the public the sheer amount of work they juggle everyday, and how too often the important, student-related work gets done long after the school day ends.
