Resolution in support of the UFT endorsing Darma Diaz in her primary election for New York City Council
Whereas, Darma Diaz was born and raised in Brooklyn, where she attended public school before going on to college and graduated with a degree in Human Services; and
Whereas, as a licensed social worker she serves as the Director of Housing Services at a faith-based homeless shelter; and
Whereas, Darma is currently the Female District Leader in the 54th AD and has been working feverishly as an essential worker during the pandemic delivering food and PPE supplies throughout her community and the borough of Brooklyn; and
Whereas, her candidacy is rooted in community and family, Darma is a strong supporter of public schools and parents, having raised a daughter herself, and is an advocate for affordable housing, health care and homeless services; therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the UFT endorse Darma Diaz in her primary election for New York City Council District 37 as we believe she will be a strong ally for working people, our schools and our community.
