WHEREAS, Donovan Richards is a lifelong Queens resident who has represented Southeast Queens in the City Council since 2013; and

WHEREAS, as our representative on City Council, he helped secure millions of dollars of support to our local schools to update technology, including to our local CTE schools; and

WHEREAS, as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises during his first City Council term, he fought for affordable housing, used this position to fight for rezoning in the Rockaways to increase residential availability as well as commercial and community space, including a new library; and

WHEREAS, as Queens Borough President, Donovan will keep fighting for tenant rights like rent regulations and vacancy decontrol so working people can continue to call Queens home; and

WHEREAS, as Queens Borough President, he will work to expand economic and educational opportunities for all communities, continue to fight for jobs, support immigrant rights and fix public transportation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the UFT endorse Donovan Richards in his primary election for Queens Borough President as we believe he will be a strong ally for working people, our schools and our community.
