Alice D. Lombardi, Age 94
Alice was a teacher and assistant principal in multiple schools in Brooklyn and Queens prior to working as a mathematics coordinator for the New York City Department of Education. She was a pioneer in math curricula for the education department from the 1960s to the 1980s. Channel 13 WNET recognized Alice for her teaching abilities and innovation in math curricula by showcasing her on a special television show focusing on mathematics education in the early 1960s.
Alice loved opera and conducted opera appreciation classes at her retirement community, Leisure Knoll. She served on the Leisure Knoll volunteer board of directors and was active in the retirement community’s mini travel club.
She is survived by her sister, Amelia Giampietro (nee D'Onofrio), her nieces, Jean D'Onofrio, Fran Voda, Janet Wright (nee Succoso) and Marion Succoso, her nephew, Philip Giampietro, and multiple great nieces and nephews.
