Bernice Goldklang, Age 86

Bernice Goldklang was a UFT member for 50 years, including 25 years spent teaching special education in the sixth grade at PS 97 in Queens.

Bernice was a member of one of the first special education units in Queens. Her legacy as a teacher lives on for two more generations: Her career inspired her daughter, Rita Rothenburg, to become an art teacher at PS 46 in Queens and her granddaughter, Jaclyn Rothenburg, to become an English teacher at Francis Lewis HS in Queens.

Bernice is greatly missed by all who knew her and will be cherished for her hard work and dedication to students with special needs.
