Gerald Fitzgerald, Age 64
Gerald Fitzgerald, a former media teacher at MS 324 in Washington Heights, passed away after a heart attack on Nov. 19, 2016. Known to many as “Mr. Fitz,” he retired after over 25 years of service with the Department of Education, where he touched the lives of many that passed through his school.
Gerald was a fan of 60s music, particularly The Beach Boys. He loved watching and making movies — his home video "The Hubcap Thief" even made it on "Saturday Night Live" in the 1976 season. He often watched the Yankees play baseball on television, and enjoyed relaxing by pool in the summer. He also loved comedy and was known for his sense of humor.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Linda Fitzgerald (née Pizzolo), their daughters, Juliet Fitzgerald and Lisa Fitzgerald O'Connor, son-in-law Eric O'Connor and grandchildren Griffin O'Connor and Olivia O'Connor.
