I would like to thank the UFT for the tribute to my late husband, Barry Spielvogel, on the UFT Honors website. Your reporter, Cara Matthews, called a few times and listened to me pour my heart out about Barry’s dedication to both the UFT (he served as the chapter leader at Murry Bergtraum HS) and his student athletes (he was a coach and athletic director). I felt like I was talking to a friend even though we had never met.

The Honors tribute about Barry captures who he was. Our family shed many happy tears while reading it and seeing the pictures that were included. How very thoughtful the UFT is to not forget the hardworking men and women who helped to make the union strong while enriching the lives of the children of this city.
