In the days that followed, my leadership students collected $5,000 and donated the money to a city fund.

We also set up bulletin boards with pictures and news articles about the event. A separate board was available for anyone to write down personal notes.

We later discovered the names of several former students and relatives of current students who died on that day.

We held a moment of silence to honor all the victims and their families. American flags were displayed everywhere. It was a time to come together as one family.
