Federation of Nurses/UFT Professional Issues Conference

As they learned about the latest treatment protocols and other workplace issues at their annual union conference, Federation of Nurses/UFT members vowed they would continue fighting to make the state enforce the landmark 2022 safe staffing law and hold hospitals accountable.

UFT nurses in staffing fight

The Federation of Nurses/UFT is in a pitched battle with NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn over short staffing that the union contends is putting patients at risk.


Nurse Recognition Day 2023

The Nurse Recognition Day awards dinner on May 4 celebrated everything that defines Federation of Nurses/UFT nurses — compassion, humanity, leadership and a passion for care, as well as putting patients first and contributing to a unified voice through union service.

Leading the charge for safe staffing

UFT Vice President Anne Goldman, the head of the Federation of Nurses/UFT, writes that city hospitals are not required to have adequate staffing. The game of health is allowed to proceed knowingly shorthanded, without economic penalty and at risk to patients. Our union is leading the fight to focus on this injustice and require proper staffing.

Fighting for lower hospital costs

Union leaders including UFT Vice President for Non-DOE Employees Anne Goldman, spoke in favor of hospital pricing transparency before a hearing on legislation to address the issue.

VNS Licensed Practical Nurses OK contract

Federation of Nurses/UFT members who are Licensed Practical Nurses with VNS Health overwhelmingly ratified a contract that provides a 6.6% increase in base salaries over two years while preserving current premium-free health benefits and establishing a forum to address the crucial issue of caseload.
