Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks 2023
UFT members in all five boroughs and on Long Island raised thousands of dollars by participating in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks in October.

PS 30 in Staten Island wore #TeamTamika shirts in support of Tamika Little, a special education teacher at the school and breast cancer survivor. The shirts also read “In Memory of Karyn Ferrise,” an early childhood teacher who passed away from breast cancer in May 2023.

Helen Jason, a teacher at PS 36 in Manhattan, marches in the annual Strides walk in Central Park as she has for seven years. She is currently going through treatment for breast cancer and calls the Strides event “inspiring.”
