PS 30 in Staten Island wore #TeamTamika shirts in support of Tamika Little, a special education teacher at the school and breast cancer survivor. The shirts also read “In Memory of Karyn Ferrise,” an early childhood teacher who passed away from breast cancer in May 2023.

UFT members and leadership march in Central Park to honor loved ones and colleagues and to raise money for advocacy and research.

Helen Jason, a teacher at PS 36 in Manhattan, marches in the annual Strides walk in Central Park as she has for seven years. She is currently going through treatment for breast cancer and calls the Strides event “inspiring.”

Michael Friedman, the Pathways to Graduation chapter leader, attended his first march 30 years ago. His chapter raised more than $4,000.
