Dial-A-Teacher is in its 39th year of helping students and parents struggling with homework assignments.

Do your students need help with their homework? If so, you can point them to the UFT’s award-winning Dial-A-Teacher homework help line.

In its 39th year, Dial-A-Teacher assists students and parents struggling with homework assignments from 4 to 7 p.m. every Monday to Thursday when school is in session. All they have to do is call 212-777-3380 or visit dialateacher.org, and a qualified, licensed classroom teacher will be at their service.

In recent years, the Dial-A-Teacher staff has fielded nearly 70,000 calls annually. The City Council helps keep the program going by making it a regular part of the annual city budget, along with several other important UFT education initiatives.

“We have a long history of offering parents and students this invaluable resource, and we are happy to continue to provide this service,” said Anthony Harmon, a UFT special assistant to the president.

Dial-A-Teacher staffers are qualified and experienced in all subject areas, and several are multilingual. They can handle questions in 10 languages: Armenian, Bengali, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and Fukanese), English, French, Haitian-Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Tagalog.

The program is fully computerized. Teachers can communicate online with students at all levels and download their assignments so they can better guide them as the students work through challenges.

Educators can arrange for workshops, order materials, schedule classroom visits or get general information about the program by calling 212-598-9205.
