UFT statement on DOE class size plan
Press Releases
"This plan acknowledges for the first time that $2 billion needs to be added to the capital plan, commits the DOE to fund class sizes without cutting programs, and supports modest gains to make the 40 percent thresholds the law requires this fall. The real work, and progress, demands a commitment going forward to correctly fund each school to follow the law and to identify and build new seats where needed," said Michael Mulgrew, president of the United Federation of Teachers.
