"It is a terrible thing to have happen. We are thankful that the injury was not more serious. When I spoke to him, he kept saying he wanted to go back to the classroom, to be there for his students. New York City is extremely fortunate to have him and so many teachers like him," said Michael Mulgrew, president of the United Federation of Teachers.
