No longer alone

A pre-K teacher and the UFT chapter leader at PS 150 in Queens, Jeanine Bradley has found her voice as an advocate, both in the community and at her school, for people with Crohn’s and for her fellow educators. And she makes sure her students, no matter the challenge they face, never feel alone.


Finding ‘inspiration to fight on’

UFT members in all five boroughs and on Long Island participated in this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks on two separate Sundays in October. “We’re here to honor the survivors in our building and to call attention to this disease, which impacts our profession at disproportionately high rates,” said one UFT chapter leader.


Staten Island supplies giveaway 2023

The UFT Staten Island partnered with local elected officials and organizations to provide backpacks and other supplies, food and fun for more than 400 families during its annual supplies giveaway on Aug. 2.

Harlem Week 2023

UFT members and staff handed out books, backpacks, school supplies and other goodies to students and their families at the Harlem Week Children’s Festival at Howard Bennett Playground on Aug. 20.

Prom Boutique

Almost 1800 middle and high school students chose from among thousands of dresses and tuxedos, then accessorized with shoes and jewelry, at the UFT's annual Prom Boutique on May 11 in the union's Bronx borough office.

Training her sights on cancer research

Retiree Peggy Keyes establised a model train museum to raise money for pancreatic cancer research in honor of her husband, who died of the disease.
