In December 2024, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill into law that will allow UFT members who are enrolled in the Board of Education Retirement System (BERS) to transfer into the Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) if they wish. Members currently enrolled in BERS have until Dec. 11, 2025, to request a transfer. The UFT Pension Department is holding this in-person information session to guide you through the decision-making and transfer process.

We advise you not to take any action until you've attended a UFT information session and understand how a transfer may affect you. If you cannot attend one of these workshops, we will host another series of workshops in each borough in the spring.
