UFT President Michael Mulgrew joined more than 1,000 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3 workers and their supporters at a rally outside Charter/Spectrum’s corporate offices on 23rd Street in Manhattan on Dec. 5.

Employees at the Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls, a charter school, voted unanimously on Nov. 26 to join the UFT.


The Dream Project, a partnership between Sacramento City College and area public schools, is but one example of the sort of educator-led projects that have sprung up across the country to protect and support undocumented children attending public schools.

Teamwork often comes into play when UFT members are doing their jobs — and sometimes, as it did at lunchtime on Nov. 7 at the Richard H. Hungerford School, a District 75 school in Stapleton, Staten Island, it can save a life.

New York City schools will receive another $383 million for new technology and needed improvements in the coming year, thanks to the Smart Schools Bond Act, a UFT-backed measure approved by voters in 2014.
