Amazon posted two job listings over the summer for intelligence analysts in charge of monitoring “labor organizing threats” inside the company. After the job posts went viral on social media, eliciting backlash from workers’ rights advocates, Amazon withdrew the listings on Sept. 1.
Both posted job listings included the kinds of activities these hires would track, listing organized labor alongside hate groups and terrorism.
The company has a long history of opposing its employees’ efforts to form a union. Amazon also has faced accusations that it put warehouse workers at risk of contracting COVID-19.
