Petitions from workers seeking union representation doubled during Joe Biden’s presidency, according to new figures released by the National Labor Relations Board.
The number of petitions filed with the NLRB rose from 1,638 in the 2020–21 fiscal year to 3,286 in 2023–24’s, the first increase in unionization petitions during a presidential term since Gerald Ford’s administration in the mid-1970s.
“After the previous administration sided with big corporations to undermine workers — from blocking overtime pay protections to making it harder to organize — my administration has supported workers,” Biden said.
