Irene Ruth Hammer Goldstein, Age 91

Irene Ruth Hammer Goldstein passed away on Sept. 19, 2016. Irene began her teaching career in 1947 and taught music in elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens until 2003, most recently at PS 115 in Queens where she was the UFT chapter leader.

After retirement, Irene coordinated and taught courses on Broadway musicals at Elder Hostels and Road Scholar programs, continued singing and accompanying on piano and stayed very active in the UFT. Irene was an avid theater and concert-goer and loved to play bridge.

She is survived by her children, Melody, Mitchell and Elissa, and four grandchildren, Andre, Allegra, Aaron and Samantha. Her husband Louis Goldstein predeceased her.
