On the union’s 65th anniversary: 

Former UFT President Al Shanker was a visionary! I started teaching in Brooklyn in 1963. I am a very proud retired New York City public school teacher, after 30 years. I am a very proud and blessed UFT member and thank my union for all the benefits I still receive.
