The New York Times’ Feb. 19 opinion piece [“Betsy DeVos vs. Student Veterans”] rightly vilifies U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos for the cynical way her department targeted veterans and turned what should be a straight-forward GI benefit into a scam for parasitic for-profit colleges.

Citizens who served our country deserve our respect. Health, education and housing programs for veterans should honor that service. DeVos tarnishes our government’s commitment by allowing shady vendors to make a profit defrauding both veterans and taxpayers.

Thanks for our service indeed.
