I enjoyed your profile of school nurse Zully Brons-Bailey [“What I Do,” Feb. 6]. She reminded me of a devoted nurse I worked with in New Utrecht HS in Brooklyn.
Ellen McCullom befriended everyone. She had candy in her office and an ear for all the students’ needs. I remember once she used my library for vision testing. She was able to get free glasses for eligible students from Cohen Optical.
People like Zully and Ellen remind us what a school should be. It is not just a place for academics. It is a place where students should feel cared for.
