Penny-wise, pound-foolish! When it cuts school budgets, what City Hall forgets is that teachers are educating the next generation of workers: philosophers, doctors, lawyers, computer geeks, dancers, musicians, clerks, firefighters, city workers, Wall Street workers, street cleaners, transit workers — all the people who make other people want to live, hire and socialize in our great city. The Big Apple is only big because it stands on the shoulders of its people. People come for its vibe and stay for its lifeline.

If the mayor really thinks City Hall should cut school budgets, he should cut his own salary. New York City public school children deserve way better than his political games.
