On Aug. 13, 2020, Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged that if school buildings reopen, every school building will have a nurse.

In response, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement: 

Parents and educators will be relieved, and the 70,000 students who have gone without will now have access to a medical professional if and when school buildings reopen.
