History is the best teacher

Nominate a colleague who demonstrates commitment, leadership and creativity, as well as effective use of sources, for the National History Teacher of the Year award. Any full-time educator of K–12 students with at least three years of classroom teaching experience who teaches American history (including state and local history) is eligible for consideration. American history may be taught as an individual subject or as part of other subjects, such as social studies, reading or language arts. State awards of $1,000 and one national award of $10,000 will be granted. Self-nominations are not permitted.
