Inside My Classroom

Books in English and Spanish

I divide my library, which has books in both English and Spanish, by genre. Students start in their native language, because we know that development of the first language supports development of the second. I focus on genre because once students understand that different genres have different styles and conventions, their comprehension improves even if their vocabulary is limited.
