"After listening to a read aloud of 'Our Skin: A First Conversation About Race,' by Megan Madison, Jessica Ralli and Isabel Roxas, we celebrated our identities by mixing paints to create a color that matched our own unique skin tones. The children came up with names for their paint color like 'pancakes,' 'strawberry,' 'vanilla ice cream,' 'cookies and cream' and 'soup and chicken'! We then used the paint swatches to build self-portraits."
