Whoomp, it's a 10!

New York Teacher

This is one of my favorite lessons to teach. Making a 10 in math is always tricky, so I like to make it as fun as possible! I play the song ‘Whoomp, there it is!’ and we change the lyrics to ‘Whoomp, it’s a 10!’ We have a little dance party, and then we dive right into the lesson. As students move the counters to make a 10, we sing, ‘Whoomp, it’s a 10.’ The kids really love it, and it makes the lesson so much more fun.
