It’s a shame that these young teachers coming in now will have to work 40 years to get what we can get at 30 years! Tier 6 members also have to pay into the pension for their entire career whereas we contributed for only 10 years. Work needs to be done to fix this.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes to fix Tier 6, please just fix it and make it fair! After 25-plus years, you could retire with a full pension. That would fix the problem and is fair to all. Why work 25 years to only get a portion of your retirement? Also, for permanent paraprofessionals who become teachers, the time dedicated as paras should count toward retirement.
