NYC March for Our Lives rally
UFT members and New York City public school students joined the youth-led March for Our Lives rally against gun violence on June 11 as protesters marched over the Brooklyn Bridge to Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan.

Sonja Hill, a teacher at PS 41, in Brownsville, Brooklyn (on left) and Portia Armstrong, a UFT retiree, cross the Brooklyn Bridge.

UFT members were out in force on June 11 in New York City to participate in one of hundreds of rallies taking place around the country to protest gun violence.

Lisa Greenwald (on left), a teacher at Stuyvesant HS, and her daughter, Eleanor Lavin, reach Broadway at the end of the march.

UFT members representing all boroughs take a stand against gun violence. The green signs are for Angellyh Yambo, a University Prep Charter HS student who died walking home from school on April 8.

The Susan E. Wagner HS Marching Band gathers at Cadman Park in Brooklyn before the march.

Holding up UFT signs as they march are (from left) UFT Welfare Fund Department staffer Anesa Soleyn, Welfare Fund Executive Director Geof Sorkin and Welfare Fund Assistant Director Joseph Usatch.
