RTC Chapter Leader Column
Surviving change
The pandemic has wrought unimaginable change. But intead of bowing to the fear of it, we made it our friend.
It’s election time again
The Retired Teachers Chapter prepares for its leadership election at a time in our nation’s history when members’ participation means more than ever.
Making hope & history rhyme
Those of us who worked to end the national nightmare of the last four years often called for a return to some sense of normal. Now we must figure out what that means. First, we need positive action to conquer the pandemic, And second, we need to fix the economy. My inclination is not to return to normalcy or normality but to join in a call for national purpose.
Transfer of power
RTC Chapter Leader Tom Murphy says the long wait for an outcome in the presidential election has been worth it. "I look for Biden to express the best we as a nation have to offer," he says.
Using our credibility
The attacks from this administration on our hard-earned benefits and on our aspirations for the society we helped build require that, in this national crisis, we use all our mutual credibility to secure our future.
It’s time to take action
Lily Tomlin: “Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain.” In the White House, the occupant has been whining, finger-pointing, dividing and complaining since Day One. Imagine having him in your classroom as a student. But the complainer in chief isn’t alone. We all indulge. My message is: Complain but act.
