New educators in the Bronx’s District 12 had the opportunity to meet each other and their UFT representatives at a meet-and-greet on Oct. 29 at the UFT’s Bronx borough office. UFT District 12 Representative Steven Goldberg and District 12 Superintendent Jacqueline Rosado were also on hand to greet members. “You could tell the event was run by people who are or were teachers,” said Vincent Corletta, a new teacher at IS 318. “What I enjoyed most was the energy — there is this electricity going through District 12. As a first-year teacher I’m excited by growth, and it’s awesome to see that I’m not the only one.” Krysten Baitz, a first-year teacher at PS 47, said she was appreciative of both the information and the vibe at the event. “There was a sense of camaraderie and family when all of us were gathered in the room,” she said. “I’m really grateful to be a part of the UFT and District 12.”
