I joined a Facebook group called Teaching with Neons, where teachers come together and share virtual Bitmoji classrooms or various themes for us to edit and use. Our schoolwide Brain Power program inspired me to bring this brain break room to my virtual classroom. I teach middle school special education, specifically a 12:1:1 self-contained class. Many of my students not only deal with their learning and language disabilities, but suffer from anxiety and depression. I taught the students that it is OK to take a break and relax. We’ve done breathing exercises from the video that shows when to breathe in and breathe out. I’m currently working on creating a virtual classroom with a bulletin board room to present my students’ best work for the end of the year.”
