The UFT announced today (Wednesday, March 11) that as part of its rescheduling and/or postponement of major union-sponsored gatherings, it would not be taking 1,000 members to Albany on March 16 for the union’s annual Lobby Day. Instead, union leadership will meet in coming weeks with individual legislators about budget priorities, such as needed education funding, blocking Albany’s proposal to shift $1 billion in Medicaid costs onto New York City and keeping the charter cap intact. The union will also continue to advocate for its educational priorities through social media.
