The deadline for spending Teacher’s Choice funds is Jan. 12, 2020. You should submit your receipts for purchases made between Aug. 1, 2019, and Jan. 12, 2020, along with the Teacher’s Choice Accountability Form detailing your purchases, by Jan. 17, 2020, to your payroll secretary.
UFT members who are eligible for Teacher’s Choice funding — teachers, school counselors, social workers and psychologists, universal literacy coaches, Single Shepherd counselors, occupational and physical therapists, school nurses, lab specialists and school secretaries — should have received their Teacher’s Choice allotment in their regular Nov. 29 paychecks.
If you received Teacher’s Choice funds and do not file an accountability form with the required receipts by the deadline, you will be obligated to pay back the money to the DOE.
The landmark City Council program, initiated by the UFT more than 25 years ago, reimburses educators for the purchase of classroom and school supplies of their choice. Find more information on Teacher’s Choice on the UFT website.
