Resolution supporting the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers
WHEREAS, thousands of British railway workers in Britain have staged several strikes this year, including the country's biggest rail strike in decades during the summer, over demands for better pay during a cost-of-living crisis;
WHEREAS, the RMT union will stage further strikes over the next two months in a long-running dispute over pay;
WHEREAS, talks with train operators and Network Rail - which owns and maintains train infrastructure - ended without a resolution;
WHEREAS, the RMT had earlier suspended strikes planned for early November to allow for negotiations but industry bosses failed to offer any new pay deals;
RESOLVED, the UFT stand in solidarity with our labor siblings here and abroad, especially the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers fight, and offer support where possible;
RESOLVED, the UFT educate our members on the labor struggles that face working people in this country and across the globe.
