UFT Resolutions
Resolution in solidarity with Orlando
The United Federation of Teachers will proudly support and march in the 2016 Pride parade with our brothers and sisters in honor and memory of the Orlando victims.
Resolution for sensible placement of counselors and social workers in excess
The United Federation of Teachers will work with the Department of Education to change the rotation system so that guidance counselors and social workers in the ATR pool will be assigned to schools for a sufficient period so that they can continue to serve the children of NYC.
Resolution in support of immigrant students
The UFT will ask the Department of Education to require that each school with immigrant students appoint an ‘immigration adviser’ (similar to the ‘sustainability coordinator’ or ‘anti-bullying liaison’) to ensure that school processes are welcoming of immigrant students and families.
Resolution to support the Every School Speed Safety Camera Act
The UFT supports the passage of the Every School Speed Safety Camera Act; and the #EverySchool campaign to join with the voices of parents, educators and children who demand protection for all pedestrians from speed-related, avoidable traffic accidents.
Resolution to support appropriate instruction of English language learners
The UFT will work to ensure that all ELLs receive appropriate ENL instruction as well as the resources and supports that will help them to achieve at the highest levels.
Resolution in support of the Los Angeles school district
The UFT throws its full support behind the Los Angeles School District, the unions and like-minded advocates who are fighting this attack on the city’s public schools.
