Resolution for the mandated enrollment of UFT paraprofessionals in the Teachers' Retirement System
The UFT supports state legislation to mandate the enrollment of Paraprofessionals into TRS when they are hired by the NYC Department of Education.
Resolution to endorse Debra Penny for election to the Teacher's Retirement Board
The UFT endorses Debra Penny for election as a teacher-member of the Teachers' Retirement System Board of the City of New York for a three-year term beginning in 2016.
Resolution on out-of-control drug prices
The UFT urges Congress to give Medicare the power to negotiate drug prices, much like Medicaid and the Veterans Administration, to stabilize the market and establish competition among the drug manufacturers.
Resolution against terrorist atrocities
The UFT stands firmly with all victims of terrorist atrocities throughout the world in declaring these acts for what they are: the work of cowards who do not believe in the principles of a democratic society.
Resolution on Affordable Housing
The UFT supports policy measure to increase affordable housing in New York City including strengthening state laws to protect tenants and supporting Mayor de Blasio's plan to create 200,000 new units of low- and middle-income affordable housing by 2024.
Resolution on Success Academy
The UFT joins state elected officials and education and civil rights advocates in calling on the state Legislature to conduct an investigation into disciplinary conditions and the high rate of suspensions at Success Academy and calls for a moratorium on new Success Academy Charter Schools.
