On this anniversary of the 1960 strike, we pay tribute to our founders and other members who through courage, loyalty, dedication and painstaking work made it possible for us to proclaim proudly today our membership in the UFT.

Resolution to fight for keeping Social Security and Medicare in their present forms in the fiscal year 2016 federal budget
The UFT joins with the AFT in calling attention to the current threat to the hugely successful and important Social Security and Medicare programs and stands ready to fight any attempt by the current majority leadership of the House and Senate to reduce these important benefits.
