Resolution calling for the DOE to have a lab specialist in every secondary school

The UFT calls on the DOE to immediately use all lab specialists now in excess and to hire more lab specialists in order that every secondary school in the city has a lab specialist. It also calls on the DOE to ensure that all science teachers and other relevant staff receive lab-safety training.

Resolution calling for members to join in effort toward securing new contract

The UFT calls on all of its members to commit to strong participation in this effort to win a just agreement and urges members to educate fellow members about the important issues at stake in the new contract, including for fair pay, good working conditions and professional treatment on the job.

Resolution in support of universal, full-day prekindergarten in New York City

The United Federation of Teachers will work to win state approval for a city tax increase to expand prekindergarten to tens of thousands more children in the city.

Resolution in solidarity with Philadelphia educators and students

The UFT will work with the AFT and the PFT to fight school closures in Philadelphia and call for a restoration of education cuts.

Resolution to use inclusive language that reflects the diverse job titles among UFT members

The UFT will remain mindful of the need to use inclusive and broad language whenever possible and appropriate in referring to its members, and tthe UFT’s members will be encouraged to use the word “members” instead of “teachers” when referring to the union’s membership.

Resolution to support Legal Services Association, UAW Local 2320

The UFT supports our sisters and brothers at the Legal Services Association, UAW - Local 2320, who were forced to go on strike on May 15.
