Resolution in support of the UFT endorsing Eric Dinowitz in his primary election for City Council
WHEREAS, Eric Dinowitz is a lifelong Bronx resident who has served as a Special Education teacher for eleven years in New York City public schools; and
WHEREAS, as a former UFT Chapter Leader he has been a fierce advocate for workers’ rights, a fighter for fair working conditions, and a protector of the teacher pension system; and
WHEREAS, he knows that schools are integral parts of our communities and will strongly support expanding the community school model across more schools to ensure public schools are equipped to serve students and families to make our communities stronger; and
WHEREAS, as an educator he understands that students are better served by smaller classes and more individualized attention, he will work to put an end to overcrowded classes; and
WHEREAS, he promises to provide more mental health services for students so that all children receive the individual support they need; and
WHEREAS, as a proud union member he will stand up against the misinformation campaign that targets union membership and will work to protect union member benefits; therefore; be it
RESOLVED, that the UFT endorse Eric Dinowitz in his primary election for City Council as we believe he will be a strong ally for working people, our schools and our community.
