WHEREAS streaming services like the newly launched DisneyPlus and incredibly profitable Netflix and Hulu generate millions of dollars in profit, and

WHEREAS directors, writers, and actors are rightly paid residuals for their work that is streamed on these platforms, while members of the American Federation of Musicians have been excluded from receiving residual payments, and

WHEREAS residual payments generally make up about 75% of a musician's compensation on any given project; therefore be it

RESOLVED that the UFT wholeheartedly supports the members of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians in their efforts to secure the residual payments that are often the lifeblood of their profession.
