The UFT work with the AFT, Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the American Red Cross, the National Black Leadership Commission on Health (NBLCH), and other Human and Civil Rights Advocates to call on the USFDA to revoke the blood donation ban on members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Supporting newly arrived educators exploited by DOE administrators
The United Federation of Teachers will work with the AFT to support international teachers who were exploited by DOE administrators and will fight to ensure these teachers are covered by the same rights and protections of all current UFT members.
Resolution for the City Council to hold the DOE accountable for not servicing students with disabilities and English language learners
The UFT calls for greater oversight by the DOE to ensure full compliance with our students' special education and English language learner mandates.
Resolution to stand in support of Iranian protests in response to the death of Mahsa Amini
The United Federation of Teachers stand in solidarity with the Iranian women and the students risking their lives protesting the alleged torture of Mahsa Amini and supports the United Nations' request that the alleged torture of Mahsa Amini be investigated independently.
Resolution in support of school communities who oppose Success Academy co-locations
The UFT opposes the proposals to open and co-locate Success Academy Charter Schools in the Springfield Gardens Campus Q420, the K495 Sheepshead Bay Campus, in the X113 Campus, and the Q072 Campus and we call on the NYC DOE to protect and further support our public schools in District 11, District 22, District 28 and District 29 by investing in them rather than diverting resources to charter school.
Resolution to support migrant families with children in New York City public schools
The UFT will support schools by advocating for appropriate funding based on the number of migrant students for additional staffing, school and classroom resources, professional support and training. The UFT will also advocate for migrant families by providing them with the information necessary to access services to acclimate them to life in New York City.
